Brisbane Service Areas

Pooltech is a Pool Safety Certification service based in Brisbane. Owner Luke Scott, has been working in the pool industry since the beginning of 2014, from labourer to supervisor, for one of Queensland’s leading concrete pool builders. The ‘Pooltech’ idea came about in 2019 and in February 2020 started providing pool safety inspection services in South East Queensland for homeowners with Swimming Pools & Spas.

My background story is that I am (was) a qualified UK electrician and I migrated from Sheffield, UK to Brisbane in 2013 at the age of twenty four.

Although I presumed I’d might find a job within the electrical industry. I actually found myself falling into the pool industry with the mindset of ‘this job will do for now’… As you know, we don’t build many swimming pools back in England for obvious reasons and this industry was foreign territory to me… I didn’t know what to expect.

A couple months into a my role, I quickly found the whole process of building a concrete swimming pool very fascinating. From the properties of concrete, building process & regulations to  the water chemistry & maintenance involved in the up keep of a swimming pool… I realised its more than just a hole in the ground filled with water.

Starting at the bottom as a laborer at one of Queensland’s leading concrete pool builder, my technical skill set of an electrician and pragmatic approach wasn’t unnoticed by my superiors. I progressed within the company to take on the role of ‘finishing supervisor’.

This role involved organising and delegating the work needed to be done, from shell to finish. Heres an exhaustive list. Tiling, Concreting Extra Slabs & Surrounds, Retaining walls, Water Features, Fencing, Tile Sealing, Fence Inspections, Plumbing, Lighting, Heating, Covers, Pebble Crete application, Startup’s, Water chemistry, Handovers, Decking, Rendering, Waterproofing and a whole lot more. This was a task on its own, not forgetting mention that I’d have up to 60-70 unfinished pools at one time… all at different stages. Finished to a high standard, four of my finished pools won Gold’s & Silver’s in Queensland, including a national award.

A huge learning curve to which I can not thank that Pool company enough, for teaching me what I know today.
